2008 NFL DRAFT REVISED ... POST - COMBINE

I tell you what that has to be the best take on the Dolphins I have heard in while. Parcells is the kind of guy who does not change or waiver. He has been drafting a certian way for all these years and it has worked for him in every place he has been. So needless to say that Parcells is going to get what he wants and what he wants is Parcell guys. Guys that may not be the most talented plaers in the draft but they are the guys that not only hace the most potential but have the most heart. Parcells can draft that like no other. The only thing that you may want to consider is that Parcells is not the one out there coaching these guys he will just be picking them as it were. Will the Parcells guys that he drafts be able to be coached by the the Parcell guy he lured away from Dallas. I dont know, but I do know that if Parcells doesnt get the results he wants he just may be on the sidelines with the headset on.

2008 NFL DRAFT REVISED ... POST - COMBINE

I know there are a TON of people who are begging the Dolphins to draft QB- Matt Ryan. There were a ton begging for them to draft QB- Brady Quinn last season as well. (I was one of those people.) Point is, we are ALL looking for the next Dan Marino to quarterback the Fins of the future. Problem is, there just will never be another Dan Marino. That being said, lets get to the facts. Bill Parcells LOVES to build his defense through the draft, and his skill positions through free agency. The Dolphins signed QB- J. McCown this offseason to help mature 2nd year QB- John Beck. Beck is not your typical 2nd year QB. He will be 27 before the season starts and Parcells will give him plenty of opportunity to showcase what he has ...or hasn't got. If Beck falters, McCown will gladly step in. I do not think the Dolphins will make the mistake of drafting a QB in last years 2nd round, only to draft another QB #1 overall, without first seeing what they have got in Beck. If Beck cannot come through after a year in the trenches, THEN maybe you look to draft a better QB next season. Miami also is completely rebuilding and has SO many gaping holes in their lineup, Dan Marino himself couldn't help them... OK I take that back, Marino could help them, but he is about the only one. Either way, Parcells loves young defense and hopefully he can right the ship by drafting some talented defense for Miami. As a Dolphins fan I don't think I can take another year of seeing Miami pass up great talent just to draft injured punt returners (see 07' #9 overall pick Ted Ginn Jr.). Parcells and company will get this one right and draft the best defensive player available, at the position they need the most help, DE- Chris Long. (At least that is what I keep praying they do.)

2008 NFL DRAFT REVISED ... POST - COMBINE

I have said before that the Rams may be in the best position of the whole draft. No matter what happens at the #1 pick, St. Louis will be able to address a serious need with a great talent. The Rams biggest two needs are DE and OT. I believe they WILL fill one of those two needs. People have started to talk about the possibility of drafting QB- Matt Ryan. The reason St. Louis will NOT draft a QB are few, but significant. First off, when QB- Marc Bulger is healthy, he is a top tier QB in a top tier offense. Now, the past few seasons Bulger has gotten older and has been bitten by the injury bug. Regardless, teams do not like to stick in a high profile, rookie QB into a complex offense. Look for the Rams to trade or sign a veteran backup QB. Also, if Bulger is to stay healthy then they would have wasted their #2 overall pick on a position they could have waited to address, instead of filling an immediate need. Being that the Rams aren't in the rebuilding mode like the Dolphins, they can ill afford to waste their picks on future consideration. Their veterans (Holt, Jackson, Bulger, etc.) cannot wait for the future, their future is now. I still look for the Rams to build on the defensive side of the ball and go with DE- Vernon Gholston. Paired with young DT- Adam Carriker, they would pair to form a dynamic defensive front duo for years to come. Although, their offensive line needs help, their defensive unit is the greater need here. Even with a mediocre offensive line, the Rams talent on the offensive side of the ball, when healthy, will put up some scary numbers. But, if the defense cannot stop anyone, St. Louis will just continue losing high scoring games.

Man, I have to apologize. For some reason when I copy from Word onto this blog it messes things up a bit. Hopefully you can all read it well enough. I will try and be more mindful of it in the future.

2008 NFL DRAFT REVISED ... POST - COMBINE

Good to see people already weighing in. Thank you again Vegas for all your contributions as always.

OK, let me first address the Redskins situation. Washington
;’s biggest needs are at OL, WR, DE
;, and DB in that order. Most would think that with the tragic death of FS- Sean Taylor, the Redskins would automatically need to draft a replacement. I do believe that another Hurricanes FS- Kenny Phillips will be available at the 21st pick, but Redskins replacement FS- Reed Doughty filled in quite adequately in Taylor
’s absence. Washington
; seemed to have enough faith in him throughout last season to carry that momentum over to 08'. The only OL left worth a first round pick by the time Washington
; gets to pick at 21 would be OG- Branden Albert. Redskins Guards, Pete Kendall & Jason Fabini played in ALL 16 games and started all but 3 of those games combined. This consistency allows the Skins to address other needs. CB- Shawn Springs and Fred Smoot still have a few solid years left in them, so although age tells the Redskins that CB is a need, it isn't such an emergency that it has to be dealt with immediately. Many people have commented on the fact that the Skins have noone on the opposite side of DE- Andre Carter but by the 21st pick, there won't be a DE left worth a first round pick. Washington
; would be best served addressing this position later in the draft or through free agency or trade. This brings us to the most logical of scenarios, the Redskins need for a big WR. Take a look at this fact: the top three Washington
; wide outs are Santana Moss (5'10", 200 lbs.), Antwaan Randle El (5'10", 190 lbs.), and James Thrash (6'0", 204 lbs.). Sure, they possess a ton of speed but their size limits their red zone production and they are often injured due to their lack of size. Draft someone like Indiana WR- James Hardy who is 6'6" and 217 lbs. and teams will HAVE to take notice. Washington
; could also move one of their speedy receivers to the slot where they can much more effectively use their speed. A big receiver like Hardy on the outside will also open things up and take some pressure off the Redskins most consistent target, TE- Chris Cooley. Overall the whole Washington
; offense would become more dynamic with a big outside receiving threat.
;

2008 NFL DRAFT REVISED ... POST - COMBINE

I am in total agreement with you mfarley.I believe when healthy that Bulger is a fantastic QB. But yes they do need to get better protection for him as well, he is no spring chicken any more. Providing new blood in that position may vary well help Bulger as well. It could motivate him to even better, whic could spell dissaster for opposing defences..

2008 NFL DRAFT REVISED ... POST - COMBINE

i agree vegas in 2006 Bulger had apretty good season i had Bulger and stephen Jackson and one the Super Bowl if he can stay healthy, and they can provide some protection i think he can still get the Job, but you have to get a good back-up because of irs, maybe some new blood is in order! But i would start Bulger if healthy at the start of the season and see what happens> just my thought.

2008 NFL DRAFT REVISED ... POST - COMBINE

I disagree with who they have the Redskins picking 21st. From what I have read and heard it will not be a wr. I think if the DE Harvey is still avalible they would take him but if not then I think they will take either the DE from Miami Campbell or the Saftey Phillips. They need help at both these areas especially DE. Besides Carter they have zero pass rush from the other 3. So this would make the most sence.

2008 NFL DRAFT REVISED ... POST - COMBINE

Man, I love these things. Brings up so many questions and debates then even the pros, people like Minus or the CBS guys or ESPN guys even end up getting most of it wrong. lol It just goes to show that no matter how much information you have you can just never fully tell what a team is going to do come draft day.

Here is my two cents: I personally think QB- Matt Ryan may go #1 to the Dolphins! That would really piss off the Rams and Falcons. ;-)
